Field Day 2025 — A Great Success

AARC members turned out in force for this year's ARRL Field Day operation, setting up a multi-band portable station at our traditional site and logging contacts across 40 meters, 20 meters, and 2 meters throughout the 24-hour event. Despite some challenging conditions on Saturday evening, operators pushed through and the final tally reflected the best Field Day showing the club has had in several years.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to operate, volunteer, or simply join us for the cookout. Photos from the event will be posted to the gallery and shared on the groups.io list. Watch for a full recap including final scores at the next club meeting.

New Technicians Join the Ranks After Recent License Exam Session

Alamance County welcomed a new group of licensed amateur radio operators following a recent Volunteer Examiner session held in the Burlington area. Several of the newly minted Technicians have already checked in to the Sunday Evening Net, and we're thrilled to have them in the hobby.

If you're a new ham looking to get connected with the AARC community, the best place to start is the Sunday net on 146.670 MHz at 8PM, or the groups.io list. Our Elmers are ready to help you get your station on the air and answer any questions you have along the way.

Net Update

Reminder: Sunday Evening Net Format Update

A brief reminder to all net participants and Net Control Stations: the Sunday Evening Net script has been updated to reflect a revised check-in roll call procedure and a slight refinement to the formal closing statement. NCS operators should familiarize themselves with the updated script, now available in the Members Hub.

The changes are minor but bring the script more in line with recommended ARRL net procedures. If you have questions about the updates or would like to serve as a Net Control Station, reach out to a club officer or post to the groups.io list.
